About

Georgia Buddhist Vihara was opened officially on June 06, 2000. The property was donated in March 2000 by Mrs. Shani Wijay in memory of her parents. Mr & Mrs. Shelton P. Jayasinghe.

Our friends and devotees in Georgia and neighboring states who for so long were wishing for a center like the Georgia Buddhist Vihara have now the opportunity to satisfy their religious needs. We like to welcome you all to join us in our activities.

Our Goal: Direct all, young and adults, to the right path indicated by Lord Buddha. Educate young and adults in the cultural values of Sri Lanka and other Buddhist countries. Direct them to practice Dana (generosity), Sila (morality) and Bhavana (meditation). Encourage all friends and devotees to educate in line with Buddhist values. We also welcome whoever wishes to hear, learn, practice or inquiry about Buddhism.

Activities: The regular activities at the Vihara include Daily chanting, puja, and meditation, Weekly Vipassana Meditation, Dhamma school, Poya (Uposatha) Full Moon Observance, Dhamma discussion, and Meditation Retreat.

Contribution: Georgia Buddhist Vihara runs by devotees' monetary donations If you wish to support the Vihara you may write check to Georgia Buddhist Vihara or GBV. If you donate cash, please write your name and address on an envelope and drop the donation into the charity box. If you like to send via  PayPal service Please click on the "make A donation" button: Thank You.

Dana: What is Dana?  Its simplest meaning is “generosity.” We practice dana by offering the teachings without a price tag.  You can practice dana by making a donation of money, time and labor. Your donation allows us to continue offering the teachings to others.
